Installing the Audigy 2

Turn off your computer and all peripheral devices.

Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove the computer cover.

Locate a free PCI expansion slot.

Align the PCI bus connector of the Audigy 2 card with the chosen PCI slot.

Press the card s PCI bus connector gently but firmly into the slot, making sure that it comes into full contact with the PCI slot. WARNING: Do not force the Audigy 2 card into place, if it does not fit properly, gently remove it and try again.

For analog CD audio output-connect the Analog CD audio cable not included from the Analog Audio connector on your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive to the CD_IN connector on the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 card. For digital CD audio output-connect the Digital CD audio cable from the Digital Audio connector on your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive to the CD_SPDIF connector on the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 card.

When the card is fitted securely, replace the computer cover and plug the power cord into the wall outlet.

Installing the software

You need to install device drivers and applications prior to using your Sound Blaster Audigy 2.

To install these drivers and the selected software applications, use the following instructions.

The instructions are applicable to all supported Windows operating systems.

After you have installed your hardware, turn on your computer. Windows automatically detects the audio card.

When prompted for the audio drivers, click the Cancel button.

Insert the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Installation CD into your CD-ROM drive.

If the drive supports Windows AutoPlay mode, the CD starts running automatically. If not, you need to enable your CD-ROM drive s auto-insert notification feature. For instructions on how to do so, click here.

If the installation does not start automatically after the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Installation CD is inserted, the AutoPlay feature in your Windows system may not be enabled. To start the installation program through the My Computer shortcut menu:

Double-click the My Computer icon on your Windows desktop.

In the My Computer window, right-click the CD-ROM drive icon.

On the shortcut menu, click AutoPlay.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

When prompted, restart your computer.

Uninstalling the Audigy 2

To remove the driver of your Creative product click on Start Control Panel, double click Add/Remove Programs, select the driver entry and press the Add/Remove button.

Repeat this step to remove the software entries of your Creative product.

Creative neither recommend nor support manually editing the Windows registry.

Windows 9X/ME

Close all audio card applications. Applications that are still running during the uninstallation will not be removed.

Go to Control Panel, Add/ Remove Programs and uninstall all Sound Blaster Audigy 2 listings.

Click Start, Run and then Browse. Browse to X: Audio Drivers CTZAPXX.EXE where X represents the CD Rom Drive.

Select Driver Uninstallation for WDM drivers and click OK.

When prompted to restart, say No.

Click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and press Enter.

Insert a check to the left of Selective Startup and deselect Load Startup Items.

Click OK but still do not reboot when prompted.

Empty your Recycle Bin.

If you wish to reinstall the card, reboot the PC and reinstall the card.

If you do NOT wish to reinstall the card, shut down and unplug the PC, and then remove the card.

Windows 2000

Do not reboot when prompted.

Windows XP

Select the SERVICES tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services.

Uncheck all results and click OK.

If you wish to reinstall the card, reboot the PC and reinstall the card
